In theory we should never argue, however sometimes we need to stand firm and debate our position strongly and firmly.

The following is a way to do this without offending the other party.

1)So to win an argument is simple.

2)Let the other side state their position first.

3)Listen, calmly, but all the time listens for the weaknesses in their argument.

4)Use the old “touch the finger” method to remember the points you wish to raise later.

5)There is another advantage in letting the other side go first, the vulnerable points of your argument cannot be immediately scrutinized

6)Your retort will consist of exposing the weakness in the argument of your opposition and then stating your position.

7)Never lose control.

8)In fact try and look detached.

)Put your hands in your pockets.

10)Clean your glasses or other outward manifestations that you are in complete control of the situation.

11)Break extremely tense positions with humour, preferably getting the other party to laugh with you.

But remember; try not to get into an argument in the first place because as a rule no one ever wins an argument.
