For many of us, hitting the print command on your computer is a reflex action. Sometimes we really need to question whether we actually need a hard, printed copy of that information. Here are some ways to help you control printing next time you are on the computer. • Review draft documents on the computer. This takes a little getting used to but it will save you time and money. • Read documents on the computer and only print them if you really have to. • Store documents on the computer. • Check the type of paper in the printer before printing. This avoids printing a draft document on letterhead paper. Use the other side of used paper for drafts. • Most printers enable you to set the quality or density of the ink. Set it at economy grade for all internal printing. This can dramatically slow down the ink usage in the office. So, while printing is a claimable business cost…..perhaps we could reduce our expenses and get bigger profits by not spending the money in the first place.
